Eccleston Brass Band began its life in April 1970. By November of that year the band had been asked to play at the local Remembrance day service, an event in which they continue to participate each year. By 1972 the band had developed sufficiently to be able to take part in the Preston Guild which takes place every 20 years.

The band won its first contesting prize at Skelmersdale contest in 1973 attaining a creditable fourth place and were able to obtain their first full set of green uniforms, a colour still worn by the band.

In 1986 the band were able to purchase their own bandroom in Drapers Avenue in Eccleston village centre. Success in local contests followed, with promotion to the Third Section of the Brass Band “league” tables.

The band has built on this success over the years and is justifiably proud of its record at local and national contests. Just as important to the band is its popularity with audiences. The band prides itself on offering a varied and entertaining concert programme in a happy atmosphere. The band also take part in many traditional carnivals and walking days. The volume of repeat bookings for the band is testament to its popularity.
